Tony nominee and Broadway.com Audience Choice Award winner Adam Pascal takes over the role of Will Shakespeare in Something Rotten! beginning on November 7 (not that our staff has been counting down, or anything). He follows in the swagger steps of Eric Sciotto, the former understudy, who played the part through November 6, Will Chase and Christian Borle, who originated the role on the Main Stem and garnered a Tony Award for his performance. The musical comedy is slated to close on January 1, 2017.
Most recently seen on Broadway in Disaster!, Adam Pascal is known for originating the role of Roger in Jonathan Larson's Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Rent. He has also appeared on the Great White Way in Chicago, Cabaret, Aida and Memphis.
The tuner follows two brothers in 1590s England whose plays are upstaged by the rockstar bard Will Shakespeare. When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theater involves singing and dancing, the duo set out to write the world's first musical.
Pascal joins a cast at the St. James Theatre that currently includes Rob McClure and Josh Grisetti as Nick and Nigel Bottom, Leslie Kritzer as Bea, Brad Oscar as Nostradamus, Gerry Vichi as Shylock, Catherine Brunell as Portia and Andre Ward as Minstrel.
